PRECIOUS PLASTIC YOUTH L.A.
Working Towards a Brighter Future
PRECIOUS PLASTIC YOUTH L.A. AT A GLANCE
By bringing simple recycling machines and mobile workshops to schools, we can engage students in sustainability education and help them understand the process of recycling. Ultimately, spreading education amongst youth will grow a new generation active in the fight against climate change.
OUR PROGRAM
Upcycle and Educate

EDUCATION
Promoting Activism
We travel to different schools weekly to hold educational events where students can learn about recycling their own plastic waste and gain the opportunity to turn waste into new functional products. Through a hands on, kid-friendly experience with the recycling process, students will be able to better understand the ramifications of their own waste.
RECYCLING
Directly Addressing Waste
Our mobile workshop will be equipped with a set of simple plastic recycling machines.
The machine can shred plastic waste into micro-sized pieces that can be easily melted and reshaped into new usable projects. In this way, students can be active in the process of reducing waste as they learn.
WHO WE ARE
Our Roots
We're a collaboration of people passionate in alleviating the plastic waste problem and climate change. This project began as an idea between high schoolers Lana Lim and Michael Miyajima in their freshman year of high school. Inspired by David Hakken's Precious Plastic Project, the two began to organize what would become the current day project, hoping to spread environmental education through plastic upcycling machines.
